I know a lot of people are upset about the removal of the Megaton Edition, and are upset this release doesn't feature the expansions.
But, Megaton wasn't perfect. The launcher in particular was awful, having to exit and relaunch to change from the main game to the expansions was tedious.
But, given the events of the lawsuit, I understand why.
With Levelord and Allen behind this I'm definitely curious about the new episode. Also, I'm interested in the changes to the lighting engine and how if effects the atmosphere of the game.
I think it could be really cool. And really, a new release that isn't just a flat repackage of all the content previous releases had... but one that features brand new content. 8 new levels, a new weapon, a new enemy... I'm definitely up for some more Duke.
But yeah, the reaction to this by a lot of "Duke fans" has been over the top. People are acting as if GBX drove to each of their homes, kicked them in the balls... and threw the trailer at their faces.
People are upset because they "feel" GBX is doing things with Duke that they would never do.
The Duke "fan base" is such a fickle one. And really, it's filled with so much negativity and hatred it's part of the reason I stay out of it. Even before DNF's release... there was a lot of anger and negativity around it. Which, doesn't make sense to me.
It's like, you guys say you love these games and this character.... yet, it's all complaining, hate and name calling. I love Duke. I have a shelf in my office setup with Duke Nukem.
And, even though some stuff hasn't gone as I thought or hoped it would... I still love Duke. And still look forward to new content and the future of the character.
I'm a pessimist naturally. I always looks on the negative instantly. But, with gaming, it's the one area I'm positive. And... I'm gonna stay that way.
