Prey, now there's a confusing name. It can refer to the new game made by Arkane, a System Shock-like game. It can refer to the Human Head game, a good first person shooter from 2006. Or it can refer to the first one. The game that was going to push the boundaries of technology beyond the limits of what even Quake had yet to bring.
1998 Quake Tech Prey and the Prey that was released in 2006 are the same game, just different variants of each other.
The abandoned Prey II was a sequel.
This new thing? To me it feels like Bethesda took the name and slapped it on another game.
That's pretty much exactly what they did. Waste of the name in my opinion...
I've never even played the original, but just being aware of it was enough to give me the same impression about this new one.
I'd love to be able to play the early Quake engine stuff, I still remember being blown away by that first trailer. "They had no idea that they would become...their prey!"
Months later, I don't see an issue with it. Arkane's Prey looks good.
I've never had an issue with the game itself, the game looks great, but in my opinion it looks more like System Shock than Prey, so the name is still wasted on the game since it has nothing to do with the original...
